Empowering Veterans, Transforming Lives: Our Mission to Serve

Welcome to the Keystone Paralyzed Veterans of America

The Keystone Paralyzed Veterans of America is one of 33 chartered chapters of the Paralyzed Veterans of America in the United States, founded in 1960.

Many people are surprised to discover that the U.S. government and the Department of Veterans Affairs do not fully meet the needs of all veterans, including those with disabilities. In fact, many of the services currently available were established only after veterans' service organizations, including the PVA, collaborated with Congress and the VA to implement them. We strive daily to enhance these services and address the evolving needs of our members.

The Paralyzed Veterans of America, established in 1946, is a Congressionally chartered veterans’ service organization with specialized knowledge of the unique challenges faced by its members—veterans of the armed services who have sustained spinal cord injuries or dysfunctions. (“Congressionally chartered” indicates that Congress defines our operational guidelines. While the PVA and its chapters receive government funding—supported by your tax dollars—this is only the case if we are contracted to provide specific services. The Keystone chapter does not have any service contracts and relies solely on donations that are not derived from taxes.
